A massive Mazdoor-Kisan Ekta rally was held in Jhumri-Talaiya of Koderma district in Jharkhand on 19 September on the occasion of the National Council meeting of All India Kisan Mahasabha (AIKM). The rally was addressed by farmer leaders from many states. CPIML General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya was the main speaker in this rally.
Comrade Dipankar criticised the much hyped latest scheme launched by Modi government, Vishwakarma Yojana, is nothing but a ploy of BJP-RSS to strengthen the regressive caste system. This scheme compels Dalits and backward caste people to remain in their traditional caste based occupations which were actually forced on them by oppressive Brahminical social hierarchy. On the contrary, the Constitution of India gives every citizen freedom to choose any profession which is an essential component in the battle towards caste annihilation.
He said that Modi government is hiding its great failures behind the deceptive argument that India has become the 5th largest economy in the world, but the truth is India has gone further backwards under this government in all frontiers of economy. If India was a strong economy, then how come we are lagging behind at 127th position in per capita income in the world? He asked. Price rise, debt trap and unemployment have risen to unprecedented scale today and we are seeing increased number of suicides by farmers, workers and students. Modi has actually made it clear in the special session of Parliament that people’s issues are not his concern, when he says to move forward for 2047 to become the third biggest power in the world!
He further said lies are being spread that public sector has become unproductive hence privatisation is necessary, but we all know that it was the ISRO, a public sector, which sent the Lander and Rover on the moon and the Heavy Engineering Corporation (HEC) is also in public sector which built the launching pad for the Chandrayaan mission.
The RSS had always been against the Constitution of India and now Modi’s economic advisor has given his opinion in this regard which undoubtedly is an indication that the current regime is determined to destroy our democracy by changing the basic tenets of the Constitution.
The Modi government is the most corrupt government in our country’s history. Recent CAG reports have exposed its corruption where Rs 250 crores were spent for building one kilometre of road. The people will no more tolerate this government as we had seen the farmers of the country have forced Modi to withdraw three farm laws, and Modi had no courage to recall this historic moment when he described the historic moments in the Parliamentary history of India during the special session.
The government which demolished or hid homes and settlements of the poor during G20 meet and put Delhi under a partial lockdown, will be taught a befitting lesson in the next general elections. This is time to unite against the policies of the government and ask questions which are not comfortable for the government. The next election will be fought on the issues affecting the poor, workers, peasants, students, youth, employees and all sections of marginalised communities, he added.
This rally was addressed by General Secretary of AIKM Rajaram Singh, CPIML MLAs Vinod Singh in Jharkhand and Sudama Prasad in Bihar, ex-MLA Rajkumar Yadav, CPIML Politburo member Janardan Prasad, Gurnam Singh Bhikhi from Punjab, and many others.
